Refund Policy

Steel Valley Trenching and Excavating LLC

Steel Valley Trenching and Excavating LLC (“Steel Valley,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to providing professional, reliable, and high-quality trenching and excavating services to residential and contractor clients throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. This Refund Policy explains how payments, deposits, cancellations, and refunds are handled.

Deposits and Advance Payments

Certain projects may require a deposit or advance payment prior to scheduling or beginning work. Deposits help cover mobilization, equipment preparation, permitting coordination, and administrative costs.

  • Deposits are non-refundable once work has been scheduled or mobilization has begun, unless otherwise stated in writing.

  • Mobilization includes, but is not limited to, equipment transport, site preparation, utility coordination (PA 811), and project scheduling. 

Cancellations by the Client

If you need to cancel a scheduled project:

  • Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the scheduled start date may be eligible for a partial refund of the deposit, minus any incurred administrative or preparation costs.

  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled start date are not eligible for a refund due to lost scheduling availability, equipment allocation, and labor planning.

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email or text message.

Refunds After Work Has Begun

Once excavation or trenching work has started:

  • No refunds will be issued for completed work, partially completed work, or mobilized services.

  • Excavation work is inherently variable due to soil conditions, underground obstructions, weather, utility conflicts, and site access, and pricing reflects this variability.

Unsatisfactory Work or Disputes

If you believe work was not performed according to the agreed-upon scope:

  1. You must notify Steel Valley Trenching and Excavating LLC within 48 hours of project completion.

  2. We will review the concern and, if appropriate, offer a corrective solution such as:

    • Adjustments within the original scope

    • Clarification of completed work

    • Site walk-through or documentation review

Refunds are not guaranteed and will only be considered if Steel Valley determines that work materially deviated from the written agreement.

Non-Refundable Items

The following are non-refundable:

  • Permit fees

  • Utility marking coordination (PA 811)

  • Inspection fees

  • Equipment mobilization and transport costs

  • Materials already purchased or installed

  • Emergency or after-hours services

Weather and Site Conditions

Weather delays, unsafe site conditions, or unforeseen underground conditions do not automatically qualify for refunds. If work must be postponed, payments will typically be applied to the rescheduled service date.

Emergency Services

Emergency excavation or trenching services (including water line breaks, sewer failures, or utility exposure) are non-refundable due to immediate mobilization and response costs.
